JPEG / JPG

How it works

JPEG is the most metadata-rich image format. Every JPG file can contain EXIF (camera and GPS data), IPTC (copyright and captions), XMP (editing history), and ICC color profiles. Our viewer extracts and displays every field — including nested structures that basic tools miss, like makernote data specific to Canon, Nikon, or Sony cameras.

Tips

JPEGs from smartphones typically contain 40-80 EXIF fields. Photos from professional cameras can have 150+ fields including lens serial numbers and shutter count.
