How it works

Pick the clip and the speed

Set a start and an end, up to 15 seconds apart, or use the player and tap Now. Choose 1 to 25 frames per second and a width from 160 to 640 px. The plan shows the frame count before anything runs.

Timing a GIF can actually hold

GIF delays are whole hundredths of a second. Only frame rates that fit exactly are offered, so a 10 fps GIF plays at 10 fps and lasts as long as your clip.

The GIF is checked after it is built

Once encoded, the page decodes the GIF again and checks its frame count, every frame delay, its size and its loop setting. A GIF that does not match is never offered.

No blank frames, no upload

If your browser cannot play the video, or a moment cannot be reached, the page says so and makes nothing. The video never leaves your device.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I turn a video into a GIF?

Upload the video, set the start and end of the clip, pick a frame rate and a width, then tap Make GIF. The GIF is checked and shown, then you download it.

How long can the clip be?

Up to 15 seconds. A longer range is refused with its real length, never cut short without telling you. For a longer GIF, make two and join them in a GIF editor.

Why only these frame rates?

A GIF stores each frame delay in hundredths of a second. 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 20 and 25 fps divide 100 exactly, so the GIF plays at the speed you picked. A rate like 15 fps would drift.

Why does my GIF look grainier than the video?

A GIF can hold only 256 colours per frame. Smooth gradients and skin tones lose detail. A smaller width and a short clip keep the file small and the picture clean.

Why is the width capped at 640 px?

Every frame is held in memory while the GIF is built, and GIF files grow fast. Widths from 160 to 640 px keep both in check. The page never makes the GIF wider than the video.

Why does my video not open?

The page can only use videos your browser can play. MP4 with H.264 and WebM work in all modern browsers. MKV, AVI and some phone formats often do not. When a video cannot be played, the page says so and makes no GIF.

Is my video uploaded anywhere?

No. The video plays from your own device and the GIF is built in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
