Instagram supports three main aspect ratios: square posts (1080×1080, 1:1), stories and Reels (1080×1920, 9:16), and landscape posts (1080×566, 1.91:1). Uploading at exact dimensions avoids Instagram's compression, which can significantly degrade image quality — especially for graphics with text. Facebook cover photos require 820×312 pixels (or 820×462 on mobile, where the top and bottom are cropped). Cover mode crops your image to fill the target dimensions edge-to-edge — ideal for photos where minor cropping is acceptable.
