How it works

Each frame keeps its own timing

The delay belongs to the frame, not to its position. A long pause at the end of the original becomes a long pause at the start of the reversed GIF, and the total length stays the same.

Whole frames, so backwards works

A GIF often saves only what changed since the last frame. The decoder rebuilds every full picture first, and the reversed GIF is written from those, so no frame needs the one before it.

The new GIF is checked

After writing, the page reads its own GIF back and compares the frame count, every delay and the loop setting with the plan. A file that does not match is reported and never offered.

Nothing leaves your device

Decoding, reversing and writing the GIF all happen in the browser tab. The GIF is never uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reverse a GIF?

Upload the GIF and tap Reverse GIF. The page writes a new GIF with the frames in the opposite order and shows it playing. Tap Download to save it.

Does the reversed GIF keep the same speed?

Yes. Each frame keeps its own delay, so a frame that was held for a second in the original is still held for a second, now at its new place. The total length is the same, and the loop setting is copied.

Why do some reversed GIFs look broken?

Many GIFs store only the part of each frame that changed. Played backwards, those parts land on the wrong picture. This page rebuilds every full frame first and writes those, so nothing depends on the old order.

How do I know the new GIF is right?

Before you can download it, the page opens the new GIF again and checks the number of frames, every frame delay and the loop setting against the plan. If anything differs, it says what and gives you no file.

Will the colours change?

Not when the whole GIF uses 256 colours or fewer, which most do. Then the exact colours are written back and the page says Colours exact. Above 256, a new set of colours is picked per frame, a colour may shift slightly, and the page says so. Transparent pixels stay transparent.

Why is the reversed GIF bigger?

Full frames take more space than the changed parts the original stored. The page shows both sizes. If you need it smaller, run the result through the GIF compressor.

Is my GIF uploaded anywhere?

No. The GIF is decoded, reversed and written in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
