Acceptable Use Policy

What Scanly Is

Scanly.co is a set of image forensics, metadata and image-processing tools. Most of them run entirely in your browser. A small number send the image to a third-party AI model for processing — those are listed on our AI Disclosure page.

Scanly is built for verification, redaction and repair: reading metadata, detecting edits, checking authenticity, blurring faces, counting faces, removing backgrounds, denoising and upscaling. It is not a face-editing or identity-editing product.

Prohibited Uses

You may not use Scanly.co, or any output produced with it, to:

Create deepfakes or synthetic likenesses. No face swapping, no face generation, no synthetic media that depicts a real person doing or saying something they did not.
Alter or fabricate a person's identity. No changing, reconstructing or beautifying a person's face; no producing or editing images for identity documents, verification checks, or KYC bypass.
Produce or process non-consensual imagery. No intimate or sexual imagery of any person without their explicit consent, and none whatsoever involving minors.
Produce sexual or pornographic content of any kind, AI-generated or otherwise.
Deceive. No forging evidence, tampering with images to mislead, faking provenance or authenticity results, or presenting an edited image as an untouched original.
Infringe rights. No processing of images you do not own or have permission to use; no removing watermarks, copyright notices or attribution.
Surveil, stalk, dox or profile people. No identifying individuals, no location tracking of a person from their photos, no harassment.
Break the law of your jurisdiction or ours, or use the service for fraud, malware distribution, or any high-risk or illegitimate scheme.
Abuse the infrastructure. No automated scraping of the tools, no reselling access or reselling our API capacity, no attempts to bypass credit accounting or rate limits.

Tools We Deliberately Do Not Offer

Some capabilities are permanently out of scope, and no request will re-open them:

Face swap, deepfake generation, AI headshot or avatar generation.
Face restoration, face reconstruction and face beautification models.
Generative fill or outpainting that can invent a person or a face.
Age, gender or emotion estimation, and identification of any individual.
Watermark removal and image-to-video generation.
Passport, visa and ID-document photo creation.

Where a tool could be read as face manipulation, it is disabled at the routing level rather than merely hidden. See AI Disclosure for exactly which models are reachable today.

Your Responsibilities

You must have the right to upload and process every image you submit.
Where an image shows an identifiable person, you must have a lawful basis to process it.
Results from forensics and detection tools are probabilistic indicators, not proof. Do not present them as a definitive verdict about a person or a document.
You are responsible for what you do with the output.

Enforcement

We may suspend or terminate access, refuse or reverse a purchase, and remove content where we reasonably believe this policy has been breached. Serious abuse — non-consensual imagery, material involving minors, fraud — is reported to the appropriate authorities. Terminations for abuse are not refundable; see our Refund Policy.

Changes

We may update this policy as the tool set changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the current version. Continued use after a change means you accept it.
