Photo Unblur

Rescue a blurry shot. The AI reverses camera shake and motion blur, and can also clean the grain out of a dark, high-ISO photo. Run it free to preview the result; download the clean full-resolution image with credits.

What is wrong with the photo?

Blur that erased the detail entirely cannot be recovered — no tool can invent pixels that were never captured. Moderate shake and softness restore well.

Built for Motion Blur

The model was trained on real camera-shake footage, not synthetic blur — so it targets the exact failure a handheld phone shot produces: a smeared subject with everything else roughly in place.

Night Shots Too

Switch to grain mode and the same network removes sensor noise instead — the speckled mess a phone produces in a dark room, without smearing away the detail underneath it.

Private & Secure

Your photo is sent to our AI server for processing. The restored result is held only briefly so you can unlock the HD download, then expires automatically. Nothing is shared.

How it works

How AI unblurring actually works

A sharpen slider in a photo editor only raises local contrast — it makes edges look crisper without recovering anything. This tool does something different: a neural network (NAFNet) that was trained on thousands of pairs of the same scene shot sharp and shot blurred, so it has learned what the smear of a moving camera does to real detail, and how to reverse it. It reconstructs the plausible sharp image rather than exaggerating what is already there. That is why it fixes handheld shake and motion blur that no sharpen filter can touch — and also why it cannot resurrect detail that the sensor never recorded. Processing runs on our AI server and your original photo is deleted immediately. To check whether a photo was already edited before you got it, use the Authenticity Checker.

Getting the best result from a blurry photo

Upload the original file, not a screenshot or a WhatsApp copy — re-compression destroys exactly the faint detail the model needs to work from. Pick the right mode: blur mode for shake and movement, grain mode for a dark, speckled, high-ISO shot. Trying to unblur a noisy night photo with the wrong mode wastes a run. If the photo is sharp but small, you want the Image Upscaler instead; and to check resolution and print quality before you start, run the Image Quality Analyzer.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I unblur an image online?

Upload the blurry photo, choose whether it is blurry (camera shake, motion) or grainy (a dark, high-ISO shot), and the AI restores it in the browser tab — no software to install. You see the result for free as a watermarked preview; the clean full-resolution image costs credits to download.

Is the photo unblur tool free?

Running it and seeing the result is free, with no account. The preview is watermarked and reduced in size. Downloading the clean, full-resolution image costs credits, which is what pays for the AI processing.

Can AI really fix a blurry photo?

It can genuinely reverse moderate motion blur and camera shake, because the model was trained on real blurred/sharp photo pairs and reconstructs the detail rather than just boosting edge contrast like a sharpen filter. What it cannot do is invent detail the camera never captured — a severely smeared or completely out-of-focus photo will improve, but it will not become a sharp photo.

What is the difference between this and a sharpen filter?

A sharpen filter raises contrast around edges that are already in the image, which makes a blurry photo look harsher but no clearer, and usually adds halos. This tool runs a restoration network that estimates what the sharp image looked like before the blur was applied, so it recovers structure instead of exaggerating it.

Can it remove noise from night photos?

Yes. Switch the mode to grainy and the same network runs its denoising model, trained on real high-ISO smartphone noise. It clears the coloured speckle from low-light shots while keeping edges and texture, which a simple blur-based noise reduction would smear away.

What AI model does it use?

NAFNet (Nonlinear Activation Free Network), a state-of-the-art image restoration model from Megvii Research. Its deblurring weights are trained on the GoPro motion-blur dataset and its denoising weights on the SIDD smartphone-noise dataset.

Are my photos stored on the server?

Your photo is sent to our AI server for processing and is not kept. The restored result is cached only briefly so you can unlock the HD download, then it expires automatically. Nothing is shared or reused.
