Extract GPS Location from JPEG

How it works

JPEG photos from GPS-enabled cameras and smartphones embed latitude, longitude, altitude, and compass direction in the EXIF GPS IFD block. This data pinpoints where the photo was taken — often within 3-5 meters. Our GPS Map Viewer reads these coordinates and plots them on an interactive map with one-click export to Google Maps.

Tips

Not all JPEGs have GPS. Photos from cameras without GPS modules, images downloaded from social media (which strips metadata), and screenshots never contain location data. If GPS fields are missing, try our visual geolocation tips.
