Nikon

How it works

Nikon cameras store extensive makernote metadata covering vibration reduction status, active D-Lighting settings, focus area mode, flash compensation, high ISO noise reduction, and approximate shutter actuation count. Our viewer reads Nikon-specific EXIF blocks from both NEF raw files and JPEG exports, displaying fields that most metadata tools can't interpret.

Tips

Nikon shutter count is stored in the makernote as an approximate value. For exact actuation numbers, some models require the full NEF raw file rather than the JPEG export.
