Frequently Asked Questions

How do I crop an image into a circle?

Drop your image above. Drag the circle to move it and pull a corner handle to make it bigger or smaller. Then press Download.

Are the corners transparent?

Yes, with PNG or WebP – everything outside the circle is fully transparent. JPEG cannot store transparency, so with JPEG the corners are white, and the page says so before you download.

What size is the result?

With Original size the circle keeps the pixels it covers in your photo. The avatar sizes (1024, 512, 400, 256, 128 px) resize it. If a size is bigger than the circle in your photo, the image is enlarged and looks softer – the note under the photo tells you when that happens.

Can I add a border?

Yes. Set the border width in pixels of the result and pick a color. The border is drawn inside the circle, so the image size does not change.

Can I make an oval instead of a circle?

No. The crop box is locked to a square, so the result is always a true circle. For other shapes use the Image Cropper or Rounded Corners.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The image is cropped with the Canvas API in your browser tab. It never leaves your device.
