PNGPNG stores metadata differently from JPEG — instead of EXIF blocks, it uses text chunks (tEXt, iTXt, zTXt) and ancillary chunks like pHYs (physical pixel dimensions), tIME (last modification), and iCCP (color profile). Screenshots, graphic exports from design tools, and AI-generated images saved as PNG all embed tool-specific metadata in these chunks.
PNG files from Photoshop contain XMP metadata in iTXt chunks. AI tools like Midjourney and DALL-E often embed generation parameters in PNG text chunks — check the "parameters" or "Comment" fields.
