Remove EXIF Before Uploading to Reddit

Strip metadata from photos before posting to Reddit. Protect your location, device info, and identity. Reddit preserves some EXIF data.

Reddit

How it works

Reddit's image hosting (i.redd.it) strips most EXIF data, but Imgur-hosted links and direct image URLs posted to Reddit may retain full metadata. If you post photos to subreddits using third-party hosting or link directly to files, your GPS coordinates, camera serial number, and timestamps could be visible to anyone who downloads the image. Strip metadata before sharing on Reddit — especially for posts about your home, neighborhood, or workplace.

Tips

Even if Reddit strips EXIF from hosted images, consider that any photo you post builds a visual profile. Metadata-stripped photos are safer, but also avoid posting identifiable landmarks or street signs near your home.
