Remove EXIF Before Selling Online

Strip GPS and metadata from product photos before listing on eBay, Etsy, Craigslist, or Facebook Marketplace. Protect your home address.

Marketplace Safety

How it works

When you photograph items for sale at home, your phone embeds GPS coordinates that pinpoint your address to within meters. Buyers who download your listing photos can extract this location data. Before uploading product photos to eBay, Etsy, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or Poshmark, strip all metadata to protect your home address, daily schedule, and device identity.

Tips

Some marketplaces strip EXIF on upload (eBay does for listings), but many don't — especially when sharing photos via direct messages with potential buyers. Always strip metadata yourself before sharing any product photos, regardless of the platform.
