Calculate File Hash Online

Calculate SHA-256 and MD5 hashes for any file online. Verify file integrity, detect tampering. Client-side processing, free.

Integrity

How it works

A file hash is a unique fingerprint calculated from the file's binary content. If even one byte changes, the hash changes completely. Our tool generates SHA-256 (256-bit, industry standard) and MD5 (128-bit, legacy) hashes for any file — images, documents, archives, executables. Use it to verify downloads, prove file integrity in legal contexts, or detect whether a photo has been altered since a known timestamp.

Tips

SHA-256 is recommended for security-critical verification. MD5 is faster but theoretically vulnerable to collision attacks. For most file integrity checks, either algorithm works.
